Driving Directions to
Champlain St NW At Kalorama, California, and Florida Ave NW
Washington, DC 20009
Public Transportation -- for custom trip planning
from your location, use the Trip Planner at
www.wmata.gov. The festival location is near two Metro stops
(Woodley Park/National Zoo [Red Line] or
U Street [Green Line] Metros) and on several
bus routes.
From
U Street Metro -- 15 minute walk to Festival--- Take the
Green Line to U St. Go out the U St/13th exit. You'll come out on U
St, across the street from the Lincoln Theatre. Go left. Walk
straight ahead to - almost - 18th St. Here Florida crosses at a
diagonal. You'll see the lights ahead for 18th, but you'll turn hard
right onto Florida before you get to the lights. Once you turn this
corner (right), you can already see, a block ahead on your left, the
concrete steps leading up to the playing field. Sports demonstrations
are on this field, storytelling in the far right corner. To reach the
stage area, go past the steps to the next left; turn up it and you'll see
the stage in front of you. Note: if you like to explore, this
route will take you through the new U street historic district, lots of
signs about it, also lots of new bistros, shops, etc. Ben's Chili Bowl
directly across the street - famous landmark where MLK, Bill Cosby and
countless other celebrities have had a bite to eat....
From Woodley
Park/National Zoo Metro -- Many people find it easiest to take
Metro to Woodley Park/National Zoo station, and then take the 25
¢
shuttle (Metrobus 98--runs about every 15 minutes) to Adams Morgan. If you get off the 98 bus at
18th and California Street, you will need to walk one short block to
Champlain and Kalorama (under the rear overhang at Marie Reed Learning
Center.) If you want a bus transfer, you will need to pay the full $1.25
fare.
Parking -- there is limited
on street parking (metered), and there is a parking garage on 18th Street
that is open to the public.
